Something New Is Brewing on North Mill Pond
What is currently the home of Great Rhythm Brewing has been approved to become the site of a 152-unit apartment building and greenway along North Mill Pond.
This future development was approved by the Planning Board back in April of 2021, but has since been met with many challenges from residents concerned over the proximity to North Mill Pond and wetlands.
Apartment Project on North Mill Pond Given Green Light by NH Supreme Court
When Iron Horse Properties LLC received site plan approval to construct 152 apartments in three buildings at 105 Bartlett St., the developers were also granted Conditional Use Permits for work within the 100-foot wetland buffer and shared parking. However, residents appealed the approvals, and a legal battle ensued all the way up to the NH Supreme Court who made the decision last month to uphold the project’s initial approvals.
The development plan includes a one-half acre public park and a three-quarter mile trail and greenway that would connect to Downtown Portsmouth.
Despite its many challengers, many Portsmouth residents have expressed their support of this project to the developers and “realize that this development will be a tremendous asset to the city.”
