Former site of the Frank Jones Conference Center has been given new life over the past few years. What was once the conference center, 12.2 acres of land, and three other industrial buildings is now the site of a major mixed-use development. Originally slated to have 310 residential apartments and 465 parking spaces, 130 of them covered. Also planned was 27,000 square feet of retail space and 130 retail parking spaces. Oringinal amenities were to include green space, restaurant, fitness center and a dog park.


Proposed in 2019 and completed in 2023, developers for West End Yards partnered with the city to redevelop this land in Portsmouth's West End. The end product added 250 apartments, more than 40,000 square feet of commercial space, and 23 townhomes. The project improved traffic flow, created a greenway rail trail, and enhanced environmental features like Hodgson Brook. Additionally, the NH Department of Transportation also required improvements to Route 1 Bypass, continuing the collaborative effort of Torrington Properties, the city of Portsmouth, and the state. In the end, this collaboration ultimately revitalized properties, provided public benefits and met developer goals. West End Yards showcases successful collaboration between entities with different objectives, resulting in positive outcomes for the community at large.

This mixed-use project remains in the design and development stage but will feature dwelling units and retail space.
